Emergency lighting is automatic lighting that activates when the usual lighting loses power, which could be as a part of an escape-lighting system or a stand-by lighting system. Emergency lighting in the event of a potentially dangerous situation, such as a fire, works to illuminate an area so that people can make a safe exit, this may include illuminated fire exits to ensure exit routes are clearly defined in a building. This is a key part of the fire safety provision of a building requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

What should we expect?

Whether installation of a new system, or takeover/upgrading of existing systems, we can ensure emergency lighting systems are robust and fit for use. An experienced engineer will carry out a site visit, for free, to plan and design emergency lighting systems in accordance with the customer’s needs and safety requirements, as well as adhering to important regulations.

Some equipment we may use includes:

  • Escape lighting
  • Stand-by lighting
  • Escape route lighting – emergency exit lights
  • Bulk head lighting
  • Central battery or self-contained options for power supply
  • Maintained, non-maintained and combination operational modes to choose whether lighting is continually on, activated by loss of power or has multi-bulb use to operate both modes

In addition we can…

  • Advise on adequate lighting systems, including level and duration of illumination, in accordance with appropriate fire and building regulations

Customer care is key…

On installation of the system, the engineer will fully test the system and demonstrate how to use the system to the customer.

Our customer care does not end when we walk out the door… every system we install is provided with a 12 month maintenance contract including cover on parts and labour, as well as a minimum of 1 service per year (dependent on legal requirements of system). Following this period, we offer annual contract renewals at reasonable prices to ensure your system is always covered!
